The new DIGITAL UHF channels are coming soon to the Chicago Fire Department. The city is testing and adjusting the new and upgraded equipment for this MAJOR system upgrade. The old VHF-Analog channels will be upgraded to the UHF- Digital frequencies. To be able to monitor the new C.F.D. digital frequencies, you will need a DIGITAL scanner. A UHF scanner that you now have, will NOTwork! It must be a DIGITAL scanner!!
The ChicagoCivilDefense.org website, (ChicagoFD.org) is providing the new digital UHF channels on this website. Depending on how the O.E.M.C. handles the switch over from the old VHF-Analog frequencies to the new UHF-Digital frequencies, we will provide both VHF-Analog and the new UHF-Digital channels on the website server, until the upgrade is final and all problems have been worked out!
THE NEW DIGITAL SYSTEM FOR NORTH & SOUTH EMS ONLY, IS GOING ONLINE DURING THE MONTH OF APRIL 2010, FOR A 30 DAY TEST RUN!
This UHF digital CFD radio feed link, is NOT being used for dispatching of ANY fire services YET! The UHF digital feed is still in the test/beta mode and ONLY being used for North and South EMS.
